Studio rules

The short version of what every production agrees to. Read it before you book so there are no surprises on the day.

01

The shoot day

  • A stage day is 10 shooting hours, plus one hour to load in and one hour to load out: 12 hours on the clock.
  • Time past 12 hours bills as overtime. Tell us in advance if you expect a long day and we will plan the crew around it.
  • Rates are per day and quoted to the show. Multi-day, weekly office terms, and full buyouts are priced on request.
02

Cyclorama and floor

  • No drilling, screwing, stapling, or attaching anything to the cyc wall or the cove. No exceptions.
  • Keep the cyc and floor in good condition as approved by studio management. Talk to us before painting, taping, or laying down anything wet, sticky, or abrasive.
  • Repainting or repairing the cyc after your production is billed at cost.
03

Cleanup and cleaning deposit

  • Trash comes out of the stage, kitchen, dressing rooms, and makeup rooms at the end of every day.
  • Every area you use goes back to the condition you found it in at the end of production.
  • If it does not, the studio keeps the cleaning deposit.
04

Animals, neighbors, and access

  • No animals on the stage or in the production offices without prior approval from studio management.
  • The studio sits in a working neighborhood. Keep noise, parking, and traffic considerate of the people who live and work around us.
  • Equipment is to be operated only by your employees or agents qualified to use it.
05

Insurance

  • Commercial general liability of at least $2,000,000 aggregate and $1,000,000 per occurrence, naming Salt Lake Film Studio as additional insured, primary and non-contributory.
  • Property insurance covering studio equipment in your care at replacement value and not less than $1,000,000, naming the studio as additional insured and loss payee, with a waiver of subrogation.
  • Workers compensation and employer liability of at least $1,000,000.
  • Send the certificate of insurance before load-in. Coverage runs from the moment you take possession until we sign the equipment back in.

Need a certificate? The studio has an arrangement with a venue liability provider. Quotes are online and coverage can be issued the same day.

Damage, loss, and reporting

  • You are responsible for loss or damage to the studio and its equipment while it is in your care, on our premises, in transit, or in storage, except for our own negligence, normal wear, and defects on our side.
  • Lost or damaged gear is charged at repair cost or replacement value, whichever is less, plus loss of use. Suspected theft requires a police report.
  • Report any damage, loss, injury, or accident to the studio promptly and file the reports your insurer requires.
  • Return everything in the condition you received it, allowing for ordinary wear and tear.
